Fraud/Scam Alerts (Updated May 12, 2010)

There are several current scams and fraudulent activities regarding mystery shopping being operated on an international basis at this time. Most scams are initiated through the Internet. Beware of these scams! If you have the slightest indication someone is trying to scam you, do not respond to the message and do not provide any information.

We are Service Research Corporation (SRC), not Service Research Inc.

SRC does NOT recruit mystery shoppers through Internet sites such as Yahoo or Craig’s list.

SRC does NOT utilize a Hiring Manager or others with similar titles to recruit mystery shoppers. One scammer pretends to be the Hiring Manager and often uses the name Michael Springs, Robert Springs, Victor, John Smith and other names.

Internet correspondence in these matters often originate from private email addresses such as yahoo, aol, etc. they do not come from SRC. SRC correspondence originates from serviceresearch.com. Many times their emails are poorly written. Beware!

SRC recruits through this website. The scammer often use www.myssrc.com or ssrcmic@aol.com for their correspondences.

The scammers:

Have copied our logo for use in their scams. They have also utilized information from our website to make their message appear to be real.

Often use Craig’s List or Yahoo to make the initial contact. The scammers are most likely located outside the United States but operate their scams through many cities throughout the U.S.

May say they are Service Research Inc. or Service Research Corporation.

Often send bogus checks for large amounts, even up to $5,000.

Ask for personal information . . . do not give it to them!

What you can do to help identify and arrest these scammers:

Get their information.

Telephone numbers, email addresses, names, etc.

Make copies of checks and other correspondence and forward to the real SRC at info@serviceresearch.com.

We encourage you to be extremely cautious and do not fall for “easy money” scams or provide your personal information in search of mystery shopping assignments. Anything that looks too good to be true, usually is.

Immediately notify the following if you suspect a scam.
